Are you in a book group or thinking of starting one?

The Nashua Public Library has resources, reading suggestions, and staff to support you along the way.

Choosing an engaging book for your discussion is a challenge! Ask our librarians for a recommendation and they'll use their expertise to suggest titles based on your group’s interests.

Library cardholders can access NoveList Plus, the premiere database of reading recommendations. It also features discussion guides and lists of award-winners.

Reserve a free library meeting room for your next discussion. Need to zoom in some members? All meeting rooms include 70" screens with HDMI cables.

Need multiple copies of a book?

We make it easy for everyone in your group to have a copy through two free services.

The NH State Library vanInterlibrary Loans

Choose any book, as long as it was published at least six months ago and is available in the collections of other NH public libraries. Contact us at ill@nashualibrary.org or (603) 589-4611 to request copies at least two weeks in advance.

We'll need to know:

  • The name of your book group
  • A designated contact person (must be a Nashua Public Library card holder)
  • Book title and author
  • Number of copies needed and special requests
  • Pick-up and return dates

We request copies of the book from the NH State Library's interlibrary loan system and notify you when they arrive. Copies can be picked up individually or by one group member.

READS-to-Go is a service provided by the NH Library Association. Choose from a selection of popular fiction and nonfiction titles on their website and then contact us to reserve a kit.

Each kit contains:

  • 15 paperback copies (one may be large print)
  • Discussion questions
  • Discussion group flyer
  • A sign-out sheet to keep track of the books

One member must pick up the entire kit.

Library Book Clubs

If starting or running a book club sounds daunting, join one of two library-sponsored book clubs. Both meet regularly and are open to everyone.

Speculative Fiction Book Club

A welcoming space for readers to discuss speculative fiction. Our book selections range from classics to current bestsellers and focus on amplifying marginalized voices.

Join us every other month as we explore other realms and exciting worlds. This event is hybrid--come in person or register for the Zoom.

Nashua Novel Readers

All are welcome at this community book group, which usually meets on the second Thursday of the month in the Conference Room.
