About
I have been a lover of books since a very young age when I was caught memorizing a favorite Muppets book before I was actually able to read.
I love reading and relish that moment in a good book where you simultaneously cannot wait to finish the book to find out what happens, but also never want it to end. I read primarily fiction and like books about "real people," as they’re most relatable to me. I definitely could not choose a favorite author (it was challenging enough to choose only nine favorite books here), though when I like a book, I will often make sure I read other titles by the same author. I’m always looking for new book recommendations, though admittedly have some on my shelf that I have “tried” a few times and just haven't been able to get into. But I still hold out hope...
I like to gift books to people as a surprise after we have a conversation that reminds me of a particular book I’ve read, and I have sent a number of the books on my list (and others!) to random people with whom I have crossed paths.
I'm a bit old-school and still read physical books (no electronic means for me—for reading or listening), which is a bit tricky when enticed by one of my favorite opportunities for reading: during a tropical island vacation. Much of my suitcase’s weight ends up being books! I think my record was reading around 12 books on an eight-day trip to Mexico with my sister a few years ago.
When not reading and spending time traveling, I like to spend time outside, work on house projects, kayak, cook, and bake (and eat!), hang out with friends and family, and spend time with my black lab, Timber.
