About
I got hooked on reading in the sixth grade when I moved to the big kid’s library and discovered the Nancy Drew series. That year on Friendship day (it’s a whole thing where I grew up), a friend gifted me the first book in the Princess Diaries series, and there was no going back! I do believe that the series helped me shape my ideas and beliefs on feminism. My thesis for undergrad was about the portrayal of women in fairytales, and the end product was a feminist fairytale novella I wrote from scratch. Now I work in the YS department, and I feel like I have come full circle.
Genres that I gravitate towards are YA Fantasy and Contemporary Fiction. However, I do like to throw a memoir into the mix from time to time. In addition, I enjoy collecting cookbooks and trying out new dishes. When I am not reading, I enjoy watching TV shows (not movies because they end too soon), baking and cooking as I find it very therapeutic, or working on various art projects.
