Merrimack artist exhibits mixed media

“In the Midst of Winter,” an exhibit of abstract works by Merrimack artist Linda Emus, is on display in February.

Emus creates her art on wrapped canvas using mixed media, including acrylics, pastels, paper, beads, and spray paint. Photos of her work, she says, don’t do them justice: “The large scale and use of color in my works can only be appreciated in person.”

Emus discovered her talents later in life, after earning a bachelor’s degree in education, raising two children, and pursuing a career in social work. Self-taught, she exhibited in the St. Augustine (Florida) Art Museum and was recognized with an award in 2015 for abstract painting.

The exhibit can be viewed during normal library hours.
