New parking system for library lot

DISCLAIMER: this post is older than one year and may not be up to date.

A new pay-by-space parking system that accepts credit and debit cards was installed in the library lot last week.

To use the system, note the number posted at your space, then go to the kiosk near the book drop. Follow the instructions on the kiosk to pay. Press firmly on the keys when entering your space number.

Unlike on Main Street, you do not have to put the receipt on your dashboard in the library lot.

The zones and fee structure for the library lot have not changed:

Zone II (blue; closer to library)

  • 2-hour time limit, Monday–Friday 9 am–7 pm
  • 75 cents/hour (= 25 cents/20 mins.)

Zone III (gray; further from library)

  • No time limit, Monday–Friday 9 am–6 pm
  • 50 cents/hour (= 25 cents/30 mins.)

All this information is on the signs in front of each parking space.

Free nights and weekends

Parking is free in the library lot in the evening and all day Saturday and Sunday.

Using old parking cards

City parking cards do not work in the library kiosk. If you have a balance on your old card, use the meters on Court Street, Church Street, Temple Street, or in the Pearson Avenue lot.

Parking cards are being gradually phased out. Later this summer you won’t be able to add money to existing cards.
